James G.Ullman 92, of rural Pawnee City, Nebraska passed away peacefully with  his family on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Life Care Center in Seneca, Kansas.  He was born on May 28, 1925 to Joseph and Mary (Doksansky) Ullman in Omaha, Nebraska.

He spent  his childhood growing up on an acreage in the Plattsmouth hills along the Platte river.  He learned to work, hunt and fish with his dad, mom and brother while growing up.  He enjoyed telling stories of his youth to any one who would listen, and he always had his family to never tire of listening.

In 1945 he entered the army during WWII and served in the Philippines as an M.P.  He was joined and served his entire service with his good friend, Jack Hinrichsen, which happened to be a brother to his future bride.

On November 15, 1947, he married Luree Hinrichsen and they shared 70 years by each others side. To this partnership a son, Jim and a daughter Mary were born.
Living in Omaha area he worked at the sandpits, the Swift packing house and learned the trade of a finish carpenter through his grandpa and father.  In 1952 the family moved to a farm south of Pawnee City where he worked hard to provide for his family.  Along with his farming he continued his carpentry, working on several housing projects including the Pawnee City Village and the gym floor in the Table Rock school and building, many cabinets and remodeling in homes around the area.  He also did custom work for many local farmers.  Jim enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing with the whole family and would be ready (with the help of wife, of course) in short notice to take off for a few days or more.  The trips were taken in an over-the-cab truck camper that he and his dad had built. His other favorite pastimes over the years were card games (especially pinochle) and visits to the local casinos.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joe Ullman and sister-in-law, Jane.

Survived by his wife of 70 years, Luree Ullman of Pawnee City; son, Jim Ullman of Pawnee City, daughter, Mary  (Ed) Ruegge of Pawnee City, , grandchildren, Thomas Ullman, Pawnee City, Bryan (Betty) Ruegge, Pawnee City, Scott (Gina and Step-Son, Corey Sanders) Ullman, San Antonio, TX; Gary Ruegge, Pawnee City; Cyndee (Kevin) Coudeyras, Burchard; and Jaimie Ullman, Lincoln, great grandchildren, Summer (Jaimie), Elijah (Bryan) Devon (Jaimie), Ethan (Scott), Eva (Scott), Violet (Bryan); and extended family, friends and neighbors.
