  James David “J.D.” Cameron, 82, of Summerfield, Kansas passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017.  J.D. was born to Glenn and Selma (Yonkey) Cameron May 22, 1934 in Pawnee County, Nebraska. He was raised on a farm west of Summerfield on the state line.  He attended country school and graduated from Summerfield High School in 1952.

  He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Tiller on December 29, 1957.  J. D. was enlisted in the US Army, and he and Jackie lived in San Francisco while he was stationed at Ft. Ord from 1957-59.  To this union, which lasted nearly 60 years, four children were born, three boys and one girl.

  J.D. was a true farmer, raising cattle and crops his whole life.  He worked for Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS) office in Marysville for more than 20 years as he liked to say "to support his farming hobby."  He then worked as an adjuster for Rain and Hail Crop Insurance from 1986 to 2016.  He served 40 years on the Marshall County Conservation District Board holding numerous offices at the state and county level.

  He was a member and also served many years as Elder at the Summerfield Presbyterian Church, was a former member of the Lions Club, and coached boys baseball in Summerfield.  He also served on the Marshall County Health Board.  J.D. enjoyed pitching horseshoes, ice cream break time and never met a stranger throughout his life.  

  He was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother, parents-in-law Roderick and Luella Tiller, son-in-law Hector "Rocko" Arocho and niece Nancy Kerl.

  J.D. is survived by his wife, Jackie Cameron, sons, Mark (Laura Meybrunn), Steven, (Rene Robinson), Summerfield, KS; Bradley (Christy), Tesuque, NM; Wanda (David) Brizendien, Louisburg, KS; grandchildren, Justin Cameron, Lana Cameron, Miranda Arocho, Cameron Arocho and Anna Brizendine, sister, Marie (Henry) Kerl; brother, Larry (Sharon) Cameron, brother-in-law, Leon (Norma) Tiller, nephews, Jerry (Ann) Kerl, Tim (Angela Walswick) Kerl and Brian Kerl and many extended family members. 

  Your footprints will eventually fade...but your impressions will last a lifetime!

Celebration of Life Services 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at the Presbyterian Church, Summerfield, Kansas with Pastor Herb Schrader officiating. Visitation on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m with family greeting friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Interment at the Mission Creek Cemetery, rural Liberty. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be designated at a later date to family choice.  Online condolences may be left at www.wherrymortuary.com.
