Edna A Goers

    Edna Anna (Roos) was one of five children born to Otto and Martha (Brehm) Roos on July 21, 1913 at Talmage, Nebraska.  When Edna was 6 years old her family moved near Otoe. Edna graduated from Dunbar High School and attended the Omaha Business School. 

   She was united in marriage to Edwin Goers on May 27, 1935 at the Methodist Parsonage in Pawnee City, Nebraska. Two daughters were born to this union, Audre and Elaine.  They made their home in Tecumseh before moving to a farm south of Tecumseh and began farming.  Edna worked as a secretary for the Johnson County Extension Office for 18 years.  Upon retirement, Ed and Edna moved back into Tecumseh.  Ed passed away in 1975.

   Edna was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tecumseh.  She enjoyed traveling and was very proud that she had been able to visit 48 states as well as made quilts for her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

   Due to her health, Edna lived with her daughter, Audre, for six years.  She later moved to Linden View and Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse and eventually transferred to Belle Terrace in Tecumseh on April 4, 2012.  Edna passed away there on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the age of 103 years, 5 months and 10 days.  

   Edna is survived by her two daughters, Audre Dorn of Tecumseh and Elaine Burns and husband Mike of Stockton, CA, grandchildren, Brad Woltemath and wife Jackie of Newcastle, WY, Lynn Woltemath and wife Becky of Cook, Donna Fisher and husband Jon of Lincoln and Ann Rose of Stockton, CA, great-grandchildren, Brian Woltemath and wife Kirbi of Wray, CO and Matt Rose and Alex Rose of Stockton, CA, great-great-grandchildren, Camron and Bristen Woltemath of Wray, CO and many nieces and nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin, son-in-law, Marvin Dorn, sister, Esther Teten and husband Arnold “Friday” Teten, brothers, Alfred Roos and wife Thelma, Lyman Roos and wife Ruth and Raymond Roos and wife Helen.  

Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska, with Rev. Ken Tubbesing officiating.

Register book signing will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Memorials may go to the family's choice.

Inurnment will be in the Tecumseh Cemetery, Tecumseh, Nebraska.
