Earl Leo Wilcox

Earl Leo Wilcox, 89 of Table Rock, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at the Premier Estates in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  He was born on January 1,1927 in Orland, California to Goldwin and Rose Bella (Matthews) Wilcox.

In the early 30’s Earl and his family moved back to Nebraska to help on the family farm.

Earl attended Clear Creek Country School in his younger years and received his 8th grade diploma from Clear Creek,  In 1940  he started High School at Table rock where he received his high school diploma. After graduation hr continued working on the family farm until he joined the Army in 1951.  Earl served in the Korean War for 19 months until he was Honorably discharged in1953.

 A short time after being discharged he married Beverly Charlene Layden daughter of James Clarence and Dorothy (Wilkinson) Layden on February 15, 1953.  Four children were born to this union, Kevin Lee, David Lee, Michael Lee and Vicki Lynn.

Earl and Beverly established their home on the farm northeast of Table Rock, Nebraska where they raised their family.

Earl continued to farm and work at Campbell Soup until he retired in 1989. While also caring for his wife Beverly.  Even with Beverly’s declining health they enjoyed family gatherings, Royals baseball games, movies, eating out and shows at Aksarben.  After Beverly’s passing Earl continued to enjoy  life to the fullest.

After his heart attack on January 23 he spent six days at Bryan East Hospital then spent his last few days at Premier Estates  in Pawnee City, Nebraska.  Earl passed at the age of 89 years and 30 days.  

Earl was a kind and big hearted man, who enjoyed helping people of all ages.  He was loved and will be missed by many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly, two sons; Kevin Lee, David Lee, two brothers, Don and Raymond and one sister June.

Earl is survived by his daughter; Vicki Billings and husband Kevin of Corning, KS, son, Michael Wilcox and wife Deb of Pawnee City, NE, grandchildren, Caleb Chadwick of Omaha, NE, Christine Meyer and husband Dan of O’Neal, NE, Andrea Billings of Corning, KS, Ethan Wilcox and wife Juanita of Kearney, NE, Levi Wilcox of Lincoln, NE, Shelby Wilcox of Pawnee City, NE, two great grandchildren, Jayden Wilcox of Kearney, NE and her unborn baby brother, brother, Glenn Wilcox of Lincoln, NE, brothers-in-law, Shad Gager, Larry (Maria) Layden and Lloyd Vrtiska, sister-in-law, Elma Wilcox, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services 10:30 a.m.  on Friday, February 5, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska. Officiating Reverend Dean Joy.  Visitation on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Table Rock, Nebraska.  Interment at the Table Rock Cemetery, Table Rock, Nebraska.  Military Rites proved by Pawnee County American Legion, V.F.W. and the Nebraska Army National Honor Guard.  Memorials to family choice.  Service arranged  by Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, Nebraska.
