Dennis Lowell Lockard

Dennis “Denny” Lowell Lockard, 81, of Stella, Nebraska was born November 11, 1934 in Shubert, Nebraska to Dewey and Iva (Curry) Lockard.  Dennis grew up in Stella where he attended grade school.  He graduated from Stella High School with the class of 1953.  While in high school, Dennis was active in athletics competing in football, basketball, and track.
On September 21, 1958, Dennis was united in marriage to Vivian “Darlene” McIntire.  To this union four children, Dennise, Dennette, Dennis, and Darren were born.  The couple raised their family in Stella where Denny worked various jobs before he took over “Lockard Service” in 1968.  Denny operated the business for over 40 years before retiring.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the St. Louis Cardinals.  Denny was an avid “Huskers” fan that loved whatever sport was competing.

Denny passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016, at the St. Elizabeth’s Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska having reached the age of eighty-one years, nine months, and nine days.  He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Darlene, and brothers: J.D., George (Dorthy), and Byford (Loretta) Lockard.
Denny is survived by his loving children: Dennise (Lonnie) Reimer, Dennette Wheeler (Rick Gilbertson), Dennis (Derinda) Lockard, and Darren Lockard (Wendy Hemmer); 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; a sister-in-law Nellie Lee Lockard of Stella, NE; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Stella Community Church in Stella, Nebraska with Pastor Bill Stearns officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, August 26 26, 2016, at The Wherry Mortuary in Humboldt, Nebraska.  Family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.
