Darrell Eugene Thomas

Darrell Eugene Thomas, 76 of Liberty, Nebraska passed away at home on Thursday, January 5, 2017.  He was born on June 17, 1940 to Franklin and Leila (Specht) Thomas.  Darrell was the youngest of four brothers.  

Darrell attended Pawnee County Schools and Pawnee City High School, graduating with a correspondence  course.

Darrell was employed as a real estate appraiser. His first short marriage ended in divorce. To  this union one daughter Holly was born.  He worked with his brother Ronald in soil conservation work.

On September 17, 1961 he married Betty Bock, to this union a son Ricky Lee and a daughter Kimberly Ann were born. 

He then returned to real estate appraisal. When the children reached school age in Superior, Nebraska he changed jobs to hauling petroleum.  The family moved back to Pawnee City in 1976. They moved to Liberty, Nebraska in 1979 where he resided until his death.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, mother and brothers, LeRoy, Byford, Ronald.

Darrell leaves to mourn  his wife Betty, son Rick and wife Patty Thomas, daughter, Kim and husband David Pickerel, grandchildren, Daniel and Kayla Pfingsten, Dillon Pfingsten, Garrett Pfingsten, Jeremy Thomas, Brittany Thomas, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Services: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church/Christian Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska with Reverend Duane Westing officiating. 

Visitation: Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m., at Wherry Mortuary, Pawnee City, Nebraska. 

 Interment at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska.

 Memorials in lieu of flowers to Beatrice Humane Society, 300 Ella Street, Beatrice, NE 68310.
