           CHARLOTTE L. "LOTTIE" RICHARDSON

Charlotte Louise Richardson was born to Friederich and Louisa Johanna (Gottula) Bredemeier on February 13, 1916 on the family farm near Steinauer, NE. Charlotte “Lottie” died at the Beatrice Manor Care Center in Beatrice, NE, July 28, 2015 at the age of 99 years.   As an infant, Lottie was baptized at Salem United Church of Christ, Steinauer and was a member of the first class to be confirmed in English.  She will be buried in the Salem cemetery with the members of her family who preceded her in death.

On June 26, 1940, she married Gilbert Richardson in the Salem Church. She and Gilbert celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in June of 2009.  Three children were born to their family: Arlan, Larry and Veva.

Lottie and Gilbert began their married life in Beatrice, NE.  In 1946, they moved to a farm near Lewiston, NE, which they farmed for 35 years. She worked throughout her adult years.  In addition to raising her children and assisting Gilbert on the farm, Lottie cooked at Lewiston School for more than 10 years. Later, she worked at the Virginia  Co-op Elevator, the Lewiston Bank, and in her eighties, was involved in taking the census.

Lottie loved and was loved by her family and friends.  She valued education, wishing that she had been able to attend college herself and encouraging her children and grandchildren to do what had not been possible for her.  When she was not working, Lottie enjoyed music and dancing and cooking, especially baking.  Her pies and pecan rolls were relished by her children.  Lottie delighted in her flowers, raising prize-winning peonies into her seventies and eighties.  After the farm was established, Lottie and Gilbert enjoyed traveling, visiting Africa, South America, Israel, Canada and several European countries as well as several states in the U.S.  She enjoyed the fun, adventure, and sight-seeing of travel, but her favorite trips involved renewing ties at the Bredemeier family reunions.

She is survived by her sons, Arlan Richardson and wife Carmen of Oklahoma City, OK, and Larry Richardson of Lewiston, daughter, Veva Cheney and husband Curt of Bennet, five grandsons, Brian Cheney (Amy Dunning), Waverly, Tim Cheney (Lisa) Lincoln, David Richardson (Rachel) Grand Island, Dusty Richardson, Auburn and Nicholas Richardson (Rachel) Fairview, KS, eleven great-grandchildren, Everlee Cheney, Bryer Cheney, Piper Cheney, Tucker Cheney, Gracey Richardson, Garrett Richardson, Gabrielle Richardson, Josiah Richardson, Thomas Richardson and Elliott Richardson, brother, Kenneth Bredemeier and wife Rita of Wauconda, IL, sister-in-law, Jeannine Kamen of Burchard and nieces and nephews.

Lottie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gilbert (July 27, 2009) sister, Margaret Robinson and brothers, Gary, Edwin, Lorentz and Ernest Bredemeier.

We will miss her warmth, encouragement and unconditional love.
