Barbara Ann (Armbruster) Ramsey

Barbara Ann (Armbruster) Ramsey, 81, of Dawson, Nebraska was born on June 11, 1935, in Shubert, Nebraska to Otmar and Hattie (Johnson) Armbruster with siblings Eleanor Nichols, Marlin, Leo, Dale Eugene and Robert.  When Barbara was 5 months old her mother passed away and she went to make her home with her Uncle Jerry and Aunt Florence (Armbruster) Kean along with their seven children, Mildred Barnett, Paul, Alice Litherland, Mary Guilliams, Mike, Frank and Phil on a farm near Dawson.  Barbara attended Dawson High School and graduated with the class of 1952. 

On June 14, 1952, Barbara was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart Charles Ramsey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska.  To this union six children, Richard, Joan, Douglas, Daniel, Dave, and Jerelyn were born.  The couple settled on a farm northeast of Dawson and in 1968 they moved into Dawson.  Barbara began her career outside the home working at the Verdon Co-op in 1968 and later at JT Farm Service.  Barb was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Altar Society.  She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends, gardening and rocking grandbabies on her front porch swing.  Barbara passed away at her home, with her loving dog Bella by her side on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, having reached the age of eighty-one years, eight months, and seventeen days.  She was preceded in death by her parents: Otmar and Hattie Armbruster; Jerry and Florence Kean, husband, Charles, four brothers, and three sisters.

Barbara is survived by her children: Richard Ramsey of Dawson; Joan Jorn and her husband Ricky of Kearney, MO; Douglas Ramsey and his wife Christine of rural Falls City; Daniel Ramsey and his wife Starlyn of Dawson; Dave Ramsey of Dawson; Jerelyn Ramsey-Lester and her husband Stephen of Papillion; grandchildren: Lindsay (Mark) Reiter of Kansas City, MO; Alisha Jorn of Kearney, MO; Jeremiah Jorn of Gilbert, AZ; Gabriel (Carrie) Ramsey of rural Verdon; Brandon Jorn of Kearney, MO; Jacob Jorn of Kearney, MO; Caleb Ramsey of Las Vegas, NV; Mari Ramsey of Lincoln; Skiler (Katie) Ramsey of Lincoln; Alexander Lester of Ames, IA; Maygan Ramsey of rural Falls City; Whitney Ramsey of Lincoln; Wyatt Ramsey of Humboldt; great-grandchildren: Bryant, Charleigh, Shayne, Danielle, Hattie, Lilliana, Kylie, Lincoln, and Ethan; siblings: Alice Litherland of Falls City, NE; Frank Kean of Omaha, NE; Phil (Carol) Kean of Dawson, NE; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson, Nebraska.  A Rosary will be recited on Barbara’s behalf, prior to Mass at 10:30 a.m. by Father Kenneth Hoesing.

Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska.

Memorials contributions may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
