Arnold "Arnie" Goracke

      Arnold Eugene Goracke was born to Edward P. and Loretta (Hindera) Goracke on February 23, 1942 in Tecumseh, Nebraska.  He graduated from Tecumseh High School.

  He was united in marriage to Barbara Johnson on July 18, 1964 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Mary, Nebraska.  They made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska before soon moving north of St. Mary on one of the Goracke homesteads.  Arnie was employed with Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement after 37 years of service.  Following his retirement he and his loving wife Barb enjoyed travel, family, fishing, hunting and most of all each other for 53 years.  Arnie had a passion for passing on his many hunting and fishing talents to his children and grandchildren.  Arnie and Barb spent many summer weeks camping and enjoying the outdoors.  He enjoyed frequently visiting with old friends and made new ones very easily.  Arnie was a conservative man in nature and spirit with little need to find and obtain happiness.  Arnie was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

  He passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 7 days.

  Arnie is survived by his one and only, Barb, children, Michelle Derr and husband Steve of Sutherland, Bradley Goracke and wife Rachel of Sterling, Rebecca Gonyea and husband Joe of Lincoln and Elizabeth Johnson and husband Mike of Firth, grandchildren, Amber Massa, Whitney Kuhlen and husband Michael, Brooke Hochstetler, Erika, Sydney, Kody and Sierra Goracke, Mattie Hogrefe, Noah Gonyea, Keegan and Kloey Johnson and Madison and Makenzie Derr, great-grandchildren, Jack and Luke Massa and Alivia Kuhlen, sister, Joyce Zeorian and husband Dennis of Stover, MO, brother, Randy Goracke of Tecumseh and many nieces, nephews and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson-in-law, Casey Massa and aunts and uncles.                                             

   Mass of Christian Burial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 4, 2017 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in St. Mary, Nebraska with Father Craig Clinch officiating.

   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Sunday, September 3, 2017 from 1-5 p.m.  Rosary will be recited at the St. Mary Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m.

   Memorials may go to the family’s choice.

   Interment will be in the St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, St. Mary, Nebraska.
