Alberta E (Kramer) Little

   Alberta Evelyn Little, 90, of Crab Orchard, passed away August 2, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Center in Beatrice, Nebraska. She was born to Sam and Mabel (Powell) Kramer on July 27, 1927 on a farm near Cook, Nebraska. At about 6 years old she and the family moved to a farm northeast of Crab Orchard where she attended country school.  She graduated from Sterling High School in 1946.

Alberta was united in marriage to Arlie "Mike" Little on December 23, 1946 at the United Methodist Church in Crab Orchard, Nebraska.  They started their married life on a farm east of Crab Orchard.  She worked at the Crab Orchard bank for the first few years she and Arlie were married.  Mike was born December 18, 1949, Jerry was born August 4, 1953 and Chuck was born June 9, 1960.

  Alberta started her career with the Post Office in the mid 50’s.  Alberta was a clerk at the Crab Orchard Post Office and in the early 70’s she would also fill in at the Tecumseh, Elk Creek and Sterling Post Offices.  She became Post Master at the Crab Orchard Post Office in the early 80’s and worked until she retired at 82 years old.  Alberta served on the Crab Orchard District 1 school board for many years. She kept the books for Arlie’s Service Station from 1961 until the station closed in the early 80’s.  Alberta enjoyed gardening, especially growing cucumbers, green beans and helping Arlie with his tomatoes, sewing clothes for her three sons, embroidering tea towels, crocheting and needlework.

  She was a member of the Crab Orchard Methodist Church where she belonged to the Methodist WSCS Women’s Group, Crab Orchard Extension Club and Merry Misses.

She is survived by her sons, Mike Little and wife Carolyn of Beatrice, Jerry Little and wife Lynelle of Filley and Charles "Chuck" Little of Crab Orchard, grandchildren, Jerad Little and wife Jennifer, Aaron Little and wife Olivia "Libby", Lindsey Morehead and husband Patrick and Audrey Little, great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Owin and Gavin Little, Evelyn and Liam Little and Pyper and Gaige Morehead, sister, Loretta Kunc of Crab Orchard, sisters-in-law, Marcellin Little of Beatrice, Betty Little of Topeka, KS and Rose Little of Sterling and numerous nieces and nephews.  

  Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arlie "Mike" Little (Dec. 12, 2014), brothers, Marvin and Dale Kramer and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Haney, Mirlene Kramer, Rose Kramer and Della Bartels and brothers-in-law, Marvin Kunc, Darwin Little, Bill Little, Val D. Little, Don Little and Joe Little. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska with Pastor Jon Palmquist officiating.

Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Monday, August 7, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Memorials may go to the family's choice.

Inurnment will be at a later date in the Crab Orchard Cemetery, Crab Orchard, Nebraska.
