Albert H Armknecht

Albert Henry Armknecht was born November 21, 1923 to Harry and Alma (Wilken) Armknecht near Talmage, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.  Albert attended rural elementary school through the eighth grade.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII while stationed in Italy.

Albert was united in marriage to B. Arline Wellsandt on December 19, 1946 at the American Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska.  He was a lifelong farmer.  Albert believed in community service and served proudly on the Nemaha Valley school board for 20 years, the Grace Lutheran church board, the Grace Lutheran cemetery board for over 50 years, was a charter member of American Legion Post 360 and Past Commander, and served on the Nebraska City Co-op board.  He passed away August 5, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Center in Syracuse, Nebraska at the age of 92 years.

  He is survived by his children, Barb Trout and husband John of Omaha, Dave Armknecht and special friend Becky Shedeed of Lincoln, Cheryl Grundman and husband Larry of Syracuse, Joyce Merck and husband Craig of Lincoln and Bonnie Engel and husband Mike of Lincoln, daughter-in-law, Celesta Armknecht of Lincoln, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, brother, Robert Armknecht of Cook, sisters, Irene Treaster and Viola Armknecht both of Omaha, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.  

  Albert was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Arline (April 26, 2016), son, Dennis Armknecht and daughter-in-law, Linda Jo Armknecht.                                                        

    Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook, Nebraska with Pastor Mary Grundman officiating.   Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, Friday, August 12, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m.    Memorials may go to the Grace Lutheran Church, Grace Lutheran Cemetery or the Bickel-Nelson American Legion Post #360 of Cook.    Interment will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cook, Nebraska, with full military honors by the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Team and Bickel-Nelson American Legion Post #360 of Cook.    Online condolences may be left @ www.wherrymortuary.com.
