Fredrick Dean Stevicks, 75, of Humboldt, Nebraska was born on July 15, 1937, in Dawson, Nebraska to Edd Ray and Mary Emily (Ingram) Stevicks. Fred aka “Hondo” or “O’Filler” has lived in Richardson County his entire life. He attended country schools until 1950 when he entered Humboldt Public Schools. In 1952, Fred transferred to Bern High School in Bern, Kansas in order to participate in athletics because Bern had practices during the school day. He later graduated form Bern High School with the class of 1955. On July 20, 1958, Fred was united in marriage to Lillian Janet Hill in Humboldt, Nebraska. To this union, three children, Joni, Patti, and Tom were born. The couple lived and raised their family in Humboldt. Fred worked as a mechanic, deliveryman, truck dispatcher, auto detailer, and road grader operator or Richardson County, which was the occupation he liked the best. Fred worked hard and played hard and was loved by all who knew him. Fred passed away peacefully at his home in Humboldt, Nebraska with his loving wife Lillian by his side on Monday, April 29, 2013, having reached the age of seventy-five years, nine months, and fourteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Dorthy Bright, brothers Ray and Charles Stevicks, sisters-in law: Carolyn Kistler, Marta Belisle, and Roxanne Hill, and brothers-in-law David Kistler and Dean McMurray. Fred is survived by his loving wife Lillian Stevicks of Humboldt, NE; daughters: Joni Bates and her husband Wayne of Lincoln, NE; Patti Buechel and her husband Tom of Lincoln, NE; son Tom Stevicks and his wife Sarah of Lincoln, NE; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Billy Stevicks and his wife Ann of Dawson, NE; sisters: Noreen McMurray of Osceola, IA; Darlene Stockard of Roswell, NM; sisters-in-law: Shirely Stevicks of Humboldt, NE; Nedra Stevicks of Falls City, NE; Lyla Rohlmeier and her husband Gary of Piedmont, OK; brothers-in-law: Myron Bright and his wife Carol of Humboldt, NE; Lyle Hill and his wife Debra of Yukon, OK; and many other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service and Family Greeting Friends will be held from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Community Building at the Parkview Apartments in Humboldt, Nebraska with Pastor Howard Blecha officiating.
Inurnment will be at the Mound (Prospect) Cemetery East of Humboldt, Nebraska at a later date.
