Michael A. Keim was born to Louis and Lucille (Wolf) Keim on August 23, 1949 in Tecumseh. He grew up in Tecumseh and graduated from Tecumseh High School. He was united in marriage to Verlys Knutson on April 11, 1975 at Las Vegas, Nevada. After their marriage they lived in Winnsboro, Louisiana for a short period of time. They then moved to South Sioux City, Nebraska where Mike trained horses at Atokad Park until 1982. Mike and Verlys moved to Tecumseh and Mike worked at Nebraska Beef in Omaha until 2005. Mike retired as a custodian for Peru State College in 2011. In his spare time Mike enjoyed horse racing, casinos, traveling, fishing and keeping up with Peru State football. Mike passed away at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh on August 23, 2012 on his 63rd birthday.

He is survived by his wife, Verlys Keim of Tecumseh, son, Louis Keim of Tecumseh, three grandchildren, twins, Kannon and Kyler Keim age 9, and Emersyn Keim age 6, sisters, Annabelle Kent and husband Daryl of Omaha and June Heideman and husband Harlan of Elk Creek and numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh, Nebraska, at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 with Rev. Hugh Giesbrecht officiating. A register book will be available for signatures at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh on Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. In accordance with his wishes, Michael’s body was donated to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.
